Sodium hypochlorite is an oxidizing bactericide, and its sterilization mechanism is similar to that of liquid chlorine.
Mainly used for bleaching pulp, textiles (such as fabrics, towels, sweatshirts, etc.), chemical fibers, and starch. The soap industry uses it as a bleaching agent for fats and oils. The chemical industry is used to produce hydrazine hydrate, monochloramine, and dichloroamine. Also used as a chlorinating agent for the production of cobalt and nickel. Used as a water purifier, bactericide, and disinfectant in water treatment. The dye industry is used to manufacture sulfur blue. Organic industry is used as a cleaner for the production of chloropicrin and acetylene through the hydration of calcium carbide. Agriculture and animal husbandry are used as disinfectants and deodorizers for vegetables, fruits, breeding farms, and livestock houses. Food grade products are used for disinfecting beverages, fruits, and vegetables, as well as for sterilizing food manufacturing equipment and utensils. Sodium hypochlorite solution is generally used in industrial circulating water. At the same time, sodium hypochlorite increases the pH value of the circulating water. Therefore, in a circulating water system using liquid chlorine as a sterilizing agent, residual chlorine is difficult to meet the indicators. In cases where the pH value drops significantly, a larger dose of sodium hypochlorite can be added to ensure the indicators of residual chlorine and pH.
